Peel the onion and cut into 1cm wide slices.
Insert a toothpick from the side to the core of the onion. -

Pour olive oil into a frying pan and heat it.
Add the onions and fry for 5 minutes on low heat.
Turn the onions over, press them slightly with the back of the frying pan, and cook until browned.
